6th Annual Iron Sisters Lifting Seminar

Ashleigh Low, registered Physiotherapist
Had a great time this weekend supporting these amazingly strong women at the 6th annual Iron Sisters strength camp! @activereliefcentre was there to help take care of any aches and pains these participants came across. Rhaea Stinn started the day off speaking to the ladies about back squats. Raea has been lifting since 14 years old, competing since 2003, and has attended 16 National Championships!

Khols notes:
  1. Rhaea Stinn started the day off speaking to the ladies about back squats. Raea has been lifting since 14 years old, competing since 2003, and has attended 16 National Championships!Khols notes:
    1. Don’t think ‘over-training’, think ‘under recovery’.
    2. The less variables you have in your set up the more precise your squat will be each time.
    3. Your body can do more than you think it can.
    4. Having coaching needs to be a two way street with communication.
    5. Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.

Francis Manias, @ironsisterhood, had the following to add in regards to your mental game;
  1. Slow and controlled with each lift.
  2. Be cautious of the language when lifting- keep it positive!
  3. Practice lifting the same way you want to compete.

Kim Walford, Jen Thompson @jenthompson132, and Kristen Schause all had great talks and tips to contribute! For anyone looking to improve their physical and/or mental game, give these ladies a follow. They are a wealth of information and incredibly supportive.
